There are two optimal solutions for managing lighting on highways, the advantages of which will be described below, but the QULON system offers other solutions as well.A lighting control system for highways that uses GSM and Power Line technologies provides the possibility of individual control and management of each lighting device. Both technologies have their advantages and are applied in different conditions, taking into account the specific terrain features and requirements of regional restrictions.The Power Line technology, which transmits data through power lines (Simpline technology), offers several benefits, such as cost savings on communication since it utilizes the existing power transmission network. This can be advantageous, especially for large-scale installations with a significant number of lighting devices.

Power Line is not dependent on communication signals or cellular network availability. It uses the existing power transmission infrastructure for communication and lighting control. This means that the highway lighting system can be more reliable and stable as it utilizes the physical power transmission network.Protection against external interference can be particularly important on highways, where there can be strong electromagnetic disturbances from traffic or nearby structures. In cases where independence from power transmission is required or the system does not need to utilize the existing power transmission infrastructure, GSM communication technology would be more straightforward to integrate as there is no need for additional work to deploy power lines for lighting control.Furthermore, GSM devices can be easily integrated with lighting devices and controllers, and their configuration and connection to the mobile network are relatively simple. This can simplify the installation and maintenance process of the highway lighting system.Using GSM, operators can remotely monitor and control lighting using the mobile network. They can adjust the lighting schedule, regulate brightness, and turn the lights on/off from anywhere with access to the cellular network. Wire Simpline Node is a wired PLC (Power Line Communication) control and dimming module for a luminaire or luminaire group.Wire Simpline Node is compatible with third-party motion sensors.Wire Simpline Node supports DALI, DALI 2.0, PWM, 1-10V, 0-10V interfaces and individual load control (on/off).The unit is powered from 110-230 V. The power of the luminaire is supported up to 1000 W.Wire Simpline Node is controlled individually by Central Gateway QULON C, C1 or C2 and QULON Simpline via 110-230 V power lines. Simpline technology uses the frequency range of 132.5 kHz according to CENELEC EN 50065-1 (band-C).The device is designed for installation in a luminaire, in a luminaire body or inside a lighting pole via wire. Dust and moisture protection class IP68.

QULON Simpline is an add-on module for remote control of devices equipped with PLC &nbsp;(Power Line Communication) technology modules.QULON Simpline uses PLC technology to control luminaires. In the heart of Athens, Greece, a project was implemented involving the installation of 350 LED luminaires along a 10 km stretch. To create a network of luminaires with dimming capability, 6 central controllers and 6 dimming modules were deployed.This impressive network of LED luminaires in Athens not only provides efficient and bright lighting but also offers the ability to adjust brightness according to requirements and preferences. The central controllers, in conjunction with the dimming modules, enable precise and individual control of each luminaire within the network.This project represents a modern approach to lighting that combines energy efficiency, comfort, and aesthetic appeal. The luminaires in Athens create magnificent and captivating illumination that complements the architectural beauty of the city.Such technological infrastructure allows for not only high-quality lighting but also energy savings and operational cost reduction. The Athens project is an important step in the development of intelligent lighting systems that contribute to comfort and the enhancement of the urban environment.&nbsp;

The project encompassed the installation of 20 QULON systems at road intersections around Macedonia. These systems provide networked lighting and allow for centralized control with dimming capabilities. Additionally, the lighting in the Solishte Tunnel on the highways is also managed using QULON Software.QULON Software offers maximum flexibility in management and energy efficiency. It enables independent control of each luminaire or the creation of groups, scheduling customized dimming scenarios through the software, obtaining energy consumption statistics for individual luminaires or groups, and receiving immediate alerts for prompt issue resolution.&nbsp;

As part of the project, central controllers were implemented to manage the lighting, which are installed in cabinets. These controllers serve as the central point of control and monitoring for the entire lighting system. They facilitate coordination among the luminaires, allow for adjustment of lighting parameters, and ensure efficient lighting management at the intersections and in the tunnel.This project, utilizing QULON Software and central controllers, has achieved effective and flexible lighting control around Macedonia, ensuring safety and comfort for drivers and pedestrians at the intersections and in the Solishte Tunnel.&nbsp;
